Countdown to Christmas

December 20, 2016 // Posted in Good Food, Life, Party (Tags: , ) |  No Comments

Here it is Tuesday, only 5 days from Christmas. Let me tell you, I am counting down the days. Not because I am excited about Christmas. I pretty much have the holiday on ignore at home. Don’t have a tree up, no lights on the bushes and trees, no wreath on the door. I am counting down the days because I just want this Hell Week over with.

If you have ever worked in retail over the Christmas holidays, you probably understand what I’m saying. The week gets busier and busier. Shopper get more and more frantic. Tempers are short, lines are long, and all I want to do is crawl home each night, take a hot bath and go to bed. Some nights I don’t even eat dinner. I’m too tired.

Tomorrow I am going to call my mom and check on her. Make sure she is OK and is ready for the holiday. She is not cooking a big family dinner this year. She has been sick so much that she just doesn’t have the strength to deal with cleaning the house and cooking all that food and hosting a bunch of people at her house all day. My sister is going to host the dinner at her house this year and everyone has been asked to bring a covered dish to help with the food. That’s all fine with me. I am going to be so tired that bringing something that I can pick up already cooked on Saturday when I take my lunch break and carry it with me on Sunday is all I can handle.

Catching Some New Music

This afternoon I pushed a random button on the car radio and listened to a radio station that I’ve not heard in a long time. It’s probably been over 2 years since I listened to The River. This station is similar to stations all over the United States, but I’m not sure if the same company owns all of them or not. It’s a lot of music that you hear in the clubs downtown – you know, dance music that all the club DJs play and what the college girls like to hear.

There were a few songs on there that I’ve not heard before. I guess that means it’s been too long since I’ve been out clubbing! I didn’t realize that I’ve become such a homebody. Maybe this Halloween weekend I’ll find some cute sexy costume and call a couple of girlfriends to go downtown and party with me. Downtown is always crazy fun on Halloween weekends – the costumes are funny, scary or outrageous and everyone has a blast!
