Rocking My New Leather Jacket

October 3, 2013 // Posted in Fun, Shopping, Travel (Tags: , , , , ) |  No Comments

My man is thrilled that he got a deal on a motorcycle and told me to get myself ready for some rising this fall before it gets to cold. He bought me a motorcycle helmet and I found some good riding boots and a sweet leather jacket.

I probably paid too much money for the leather jacket, but I bought it from the Harley Davidson dealer and they had marked it down $20. I like the smell of leather – don’t you? I tried on every leather jacket in the store and I knew as soon as I this one on that I wanted to buy it. This jacket is not the cheapest one, but I expect to wear it a lot and see it as an investment. The leather protects my skin, keeps me warm and looks damn good, too.

Next weekend we are heading up to the Smokey Mountains and doing some serious riding. I just hope this damn government shutdown doesn’t screw us up and have all the parks closed. I figure the National Parks are going to be closed, but the state Parks should stay open. And who know how long it’s going to take those idiots in congress to get over themselves and end this shutdown.

Only Two Weekends Left

Well, this weekend flew by. I actually pulled my Christmas tree out of the garage and put it up in the living room. It has lights already on it, so all I had to do was put the couple dozen ornaments on it and a garland and the angel on top. The top of the tree is such a topic of discussion – I love having an angel on top of my tree, but some people insist on having a star or some other kind of decoration.

Only two shopping weekends left to get all our Christmas presents bought and wrapped and then shipped off to all the family who are not close by.

Shoe Shopping Online

November 1, 2012 // Posted in Hobbies, Shopping, Web (Tags: , , ) |  No Comments

Some people collect stamps, some collect baseball cards, some collect CDs or DVDs. I guess I collect shoes and that’s because I love shoe shopping – both online and at the mall. But this time of year, going to mall is getting to be a problem with crowds. And after Thanksgiving, I can’t bear the thought of going to mall with all those Christmas shoppers clogging up the parking lot and the stores.

Tonight I will be surfing the internet for new shoes. I want to get a pretty pair of really dressy shoes to wear to my company’s annual holiday party in December. I have a dress in mind – now I want a pair of shoes and some accessories to make a totally knockout outfit.

Most of the time I like the really high heels and lots of straps. But last year at the Christmas party I was on my feet almost all night long and I could barely walk the next day with such sore arches and foot muscles. I think I will bring the heel down an inch and try to avoid that problem a second time. I need to be able to move around and talk to everyone at the party, and of course we will be dancing, too. So the new shoes have to be perfect – they have to look great and they have to not hurt!

Loose Change

At the end of the day when you are emptying pockets and setting up your personal stuff for the next morning, what do you do with your loose change? Do you put it back in your pocket the next morning to prime the pot? Or do you toss it into a mason jar to collect it up? Do you leave it in the car so you have money for a vending machine?

I sort through my money – even the loose change. I look for old or rare coins and set them aside, then I put the rest in a big pink piggy bank. Every time I take the filled up piggy bank to my bank and cash it in I get about $400 – and that aint chicken scratch!

My piggy bank is about half full right now. I have not been paying cash for my purchases lately, so I have not been receiving change every day. That could be different when I start my Christmas shopping, but right now I am good with the debit card and the credit card to pay my way. The piggy bank is on a bit of a forced diet for a while.

Stocked Up on Hamburger

May 16, 2012 // Posted in Good Food, Home, Life, Shopping (Tags: , , ) |  No Comments

How many ways can you list to make dinner using hamburger meat? I am stocked up on ground beef and need to find a few new ways to cook with it. I have obviously made hamburgers and cheeseburgers. I also have made spaghetti and meatloaf. Now I am stuck for new ideas.

I don’t buy Hamburger Helper because it has so much salt and other chemicals in it. Does anyone know how to make the different Hamburger Helper dishes from scratch with fresh ingredients? I would like to learn how to make stroganoff and a couple other meals that are some kind of sauce and pasta or rice.

Would appreciate any first hand recommendations about what to cook for dinner this week.
